Troubleshooting

Export fails or is slow

Chatimator renders video with the WebCodecs API in your browser, so export problems are almost always environmental. Work through these in order.

1. Check your browser

WebCodecs needs a recent browser: Chrome or Edge (recommended), or a current Safari. Firefox's WebCodecs support is newer and less complete — if export fails there, try Chrome first. Update your browser if it's more than a few versions old.

2. Close other heavy tabs and apps

Encoding uses your machine's hardware video encoder. If a video call, game or another export is using it, exports can slow to a crawl or fail to start. Close what you can and retry.

3. Long conversations on old hardware

A 3-minute, 60fps export is over 10,000 frames. On older laptops and phones this takes a while — that's expected, not a hang, as long as the progress indicator advances. Splitting very long stories into parts also performs better with viewers.

4. Low disk or memory

The encoder needs working memory and the download needs disk space. Free some of both if exports die near the end.

5. Still stuck?

Contact us with your browser name and version, OS, and roughly where the export stops — start, middle or end. That usually pins it down in one reply.
