What is Chatimator?
Chatimator is a free fake text message video maker. You write a conversation, it animates like a real phone chat — iMessage, WhatsApp or Instagram DM — and exports as a 1080p 60fps MP4 with typing indicators and message sounds, no watermark, no signup.
Is it free? Is there a watermark?
Yes, free — including animated video export, AI script generation, group chats, media messages and sounds. Exports have no watermark. A Pro tier (4K, teams, higher AI limits) is planned, but everything currently free stays free.
Can AI write the conversation for me?
Yes. Describe the story in a sentence — "wrong number text that spirals" — and AI writes the whole script: characters, short punchy bubbles, pacing, reactions and an ending. It works for group chats too, and you can edit every message afterwards. Free, with a daily limit (higher with a free account).
Are my conversations private?
Yes. Rendering happens in your browser with WebCodecs; your chats are never uploaded and projects save to your browser's local storage. The one exception is opt-in: if you use the AI script generator, the topic you type is sent to generate the script — nothing else.
Which chat apps can it imitate?
iMessage (iOS), WhatsApp (iOS or Android styling) and Instagram DM — each in dark and light mode, with platform-correct bubbles, ticks, receipts, voice notes and typing indicators.
Can it show the message being typed on a keyboard?
Yes. Keyboard mode renders an iOS or Android keyboard and types outgoing messages with human rhythm, realistic typos and corrections, plus per-keystroke click sounds in the export.
